Cooper Johnson Smith Peterson Architects has the capability to design all building types that make up the fabric of traditional towns. We believe the use of traditional and classical design principles can be applied to all building types and to planning projects, the result of which is a project of timeless character, enriching the lives of our clients and the public for many years to come.
Founded in 1986, Cooper Johnson Smith Peterson Architects, Inc. is an award-winning design firm with a successful record designing a variety of building types. Our design philosophy is to provide innovative architecture based upon traditional and classical principles. We accommodate modern building technologies and the demands of contemporary lifestyles. Project types include civic, resort, commercial, custom residential, multi-family, mixed-use, religious, educational, urban design and town planning. We have established a strong relationship with a select group of engineering and design consultants which has allowed us to simplify the design coordination process and provide our clients with the highest level of service.
Much of our firm’s design reputation is based on the early success of our residential work, and most of our clients come to us through word-of-mouth referrals. Our residential work includes over thirty houses in the internationally-acclaimed Florida resort town of Seaside, and spans throughout the United State, Bahamas and the Caribbean.
Our firm’s greatest strength lies in our experience in both architecture and urbanism and our understanding of the synthesis between the two interdependent disciplines. We have the unique ability to unify these two realms of the built environment and compose the interstitial spaces often referred to as urban design or civic urbanism.
